Four Sisters - 2019

Poetry Short Film - 03:57 MIN

An homage to Nina Simone’s “Four Women”, “Four Sisters” is a short poetry film about Black sisterhood. It taps into my relationships with four Black women who have nurtured me and others emotionally and spiritually, but have faced obstacles due to their skin colour, origin and gender.

Combining spoken word, digitally altered images, and a rhythm composed of sounds I made using my body, “Four Sisters” functions as an intersectional-ecofeminist suggestion of a view on relationships with other human beings. It aims to reject traditional categorisations, and highlight micro-social aspects of protest and activism.
